History
After 25 years in the tech industry, Andrew Ko has gained insights into its power to connect, innovate, and transform. However, the pandemic highlighted unequal access, especially in education. Andrew’s son, navigating distance learning with an Individualized Education Program (IEP), faced challenges with hastily assembled solutions during lockdown – a frustration shared by educators grappling with limited resources.
This became Andrew’s “Jerry Maguire” moment, devoid of breakdowns and goldfish. He recognized the need to take action and took a leap of faith, outlining his vision in the founding memo of Kovexa. Leaving a career job without a clear roadmap wasn’t easy, but the passion of exceptional educators, the untapped potential of technology, and the call for equitable education propelled every step.
Upon the establishment of Kovexa, over 40 Luminaries and numerous EdTechs came together with a shared vision to reimagine the future of education. In its first year, Kovexa addressed the financial strain on universities due to COVID-19 by partnering with an international student recruitment EdTech, connecting with 200 institutions, and impacting tens of thousands of students globally.
As schools cautiously reopened post-pandemic, Kovexa was pivotal in assisting educational institutions, including the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), in implementing safety measures for students, faculty, administrations, and communities.
Concurrently, Andrew collaborated with The World Bank, championing Digital skilling platforms for citizens across the MENA region, empowering tens of thousands with tools to bridge the digital divide.
Kovexa’s mission is centered around connecting people, innovating for the future, and transforming education. Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves equitable access to quality education, our tireless work with educators, EdTechs, and institutions has made a significant impact. Moving forward, our commitment persists – to learn, grow, and evolve in tandem with the changing needs of students and communities.
